Meet John

Hi, my name is John. I was born in country Victoria and have lived in Tasmania since 2010.

I have been very fortunate to have lived in several places from growing up on a dairy farm, the suburbs of Melbourne, a stint in New Zealand, several years in Northern NSW and then moving to Tassie. I am lucky to have travelled to Europe a couple of times, visited Thailand as well as Mexico and Cuba. It was during these travels I often went on walking tours to get a brief outline of the city I was visiting and the guides would always have recommendations as to places to visit. This is what has inspired me to offer our tours around the city of Devonport which I now call home.

I have worked in hospitality for many years and since being in Tasmania I have worked at Cradle Mountain for 5 years at one of the iconic hotels, followed by another 5 years at the luxury property of Saffire on the East Coast. I was away working at a property in Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory when Covid came along. So, I returned to my house here in Devonport Tasmania and decided to offer a room or two in my home as an Airbnb so travelers can get an understanding as to why I love Devonport.

I am very proud of Devonport wish to share my knowledge and experience in hospitality with visitors, so they too can enjoy what Tasmania, Devonport and the surrounding areas have to offer.
